* Laura Mercier Smooth finish flawless fluide foundation

Hi everyone! I'm back for part 2 of Laura Mercier Back to basics flawless base: foundation. Here I have the Laura Mercier Smooth finish flawless fluide foundation.

Product claims:
Long-wearing (up to 12 hours)
Humidity-proof, sweat-proof, water-resistant
Oil free; non comedogenic
Non-greasy, non drying
Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. Highly recommended for those with normal to oily skins.

On the box, it describes the product to be a long wearing oil-free make up that magically blurs imperfections for a smooth, seamless complexion. Lightweight and colour-true it offers buildable coverage with a natural matte finish. Perfect for all ages, all skin tones, all skin types.

Straight away judging by the the product description this product sounds very promising. The smooth finish flawless fluid foundation contains a standard 30ml (1 fl. oz). It's packaged in a small squeeze bottle with a nozzle. While it is small enough to carry along for touch ups - I find the nozzle to be a disappointing feature much like the Chanel foundations in squeeze bottles, it can get a little messy inside the cap, leaking product everywhere which is a little wasteful. Fortunately there is a way to prevent this - before dispensing product you should shake very, very well for a minimum of 10 seconds then hold the bottle with the nozzle pointing upwards. Once you take the cap off carefully, you may then turn the bottle and squeeze product onto the back of your hand.

I have dry to normal skin at the moment, so my primer of choice will have to be the Laura Mercier foundation radiance primer, which I have to mention for the gazillionth time, is my holy grail base primer. With this product, a little truly goes a long way. The formula is quite thin and runny but pigmented enough to cover redness, uneven pigmentation, and minor blemishes. You can choose to use fingers to apply this or with a stippling/buffing brush. I actually prefer the traditional flat foundation brush to "paint" on the foundation in a downward motion to lay down small hairs and any uneven patches that the foundation may cling to. A good thing to remember about this product is it sets fast so you would have to blend it out fairly quickly to avoid an uneven application. Coverage is light to medium and the finish is matte, so if you have dry patches like I do, it is imperative that you exfoliate and moisturise your skin beforehand. I love flawless and very natural finish it gives, it's breathable and feels very lightweight on the skin - great for daily wear! It's fragrance free, great for sensitive skin but even though it's suitable for normal to oily skin, I still recommend powdering and blotting your T zone to control and prevent excess oil and shine.

I find that this foundation lasts approximately 8 hours on me before slightly fading and needed a quick touch up. This product did not transfer onto my clothes, separate or melt away, even though I was sweating profusely in 38 degree weather. I did carefully blot with tissue and touch up with powder and it held up pretty well thereon out.

(Shade Ivory)

Overall, I'd rate this product a strong 9/10. I love the coverage, I love the comfortability, how easy it applies, how long-lasting and flawless it is in its entirety. I just couldn't give it a 10 out of 10 because the packaging was a bit of a miss, but other than that, I absolutely loved it.

This product comes in 24 different shades and is available at selected David Jones stores or online at adorebeauty.com for $59 AUD!
