If you follow me on instagram, you would know that Laura Mercier AU recently gifted a few products for me to trial. I initially decided I'd review and upload them as a complete Flawless Face product range but then I've decided to do individual reviews for each of the products because I feel each of them deserve their own posts.
There will be a total of 4 posts one for each of the four-step process to Laura Mercier's flawless face - primer, foundation, concealer and powder. I won't be doing one for powder though, I have notoriously dry skin and prefer a dewy, natural glow.
So to start off, we have step one: primer. Laura Mercier have 5 different variants of foundation primer.
Laura Mercier foundation primer
Laura Mercier foundation primer - hydrating
Laura Mercier foundation primer - oil free
Laura Mercier foundation primer - mineral and
Laura Mericer foundation primer - radiance
The Laura Mercier foundation primer (radiance) is described as a lightweight, creamy gel with a pearl tint that creates a "soft focus effect" that visibly blurs imperfections. This full size product contains 50ml of colourless gel that feels much like a hydrating moisturiser that is light-reflecting, giving the skin a very fresh and natural, dewy glow. This product is compatible with all skin types and should be used on top of any sunblock or moisturiser, but under foundation and make up. You also have the choice to wear this alone or under a tinted moisturiser, bb cream or any foundation to make it more dewy and radiant.
As far as skincare benefits I feel it gives me a lot more hydration and cancels the dullness and dry texture of my skin. Softens the look of fine lines, wrinkles and has not broken me out. As far as pores goes, I'm not too sure if it minimises the look of them since the product doesn't really claim to do so… only that it minimises imperfections. I do not have any enlarged pores, normally people with dry skin have smaller pores so that's not much of a concern to me the only real concern I have is stubborn dry patches (no matter how much I exfoliate, moisturise or drink water), creasing and dullness. The great thing about this product also is that it is silicone-free! Silicone-based products always makes my skin feel gross…
To apply, I use clean fingers and a pea-sized amount of product to layer a thin amount. I lightly massage the product in circular motions into my skin and wait about half a minute before I apply my NARS Sheer glow foundation on top starting from the centre of my face and blending outwards in the direction of hair growth. Normally, the sheer glow would have a satin, semi-matte finish - ironically, nothing sheer or glowy about it (apparently, it's suppose to give only a sheer glow not that it's sheer and it glows), sometimes it can look a little bit cakey on me on random days I am lacking hydration, but with the primer underneath my skin looks more natural and glowing and the foundation applies more smoother without catching to dry flakes.
Overall, I absolutely love this foundation primer! I have super dry skin and foundations tend to dry and become very patchy or crease and settle into fine lines without a primer, but this product makes it more emollient and help smooth and prep my skin for any make up. This has definitely become a holy grail for me and I will definitely repurchase once this ends up in my empties pile.
This retails for $45 AUD at selected David Jones stores nationally and also online at adorebeauty.com.au
