The Gilded Cage Beauty *

If you've been following my instagram feed lately, you may have already seen a sneak peak of a couple of new lip products I have recently acquired.  Gilded cage is an emerging luxury beauty brand born in Australia, designed in Paris and made in Italy. The newly launched collection aims to promote individuality and encourages women to embrace their own distinct beauty.

Gilded Cage Unleashed Lipsticks are currently available in 8 indulgent shades and offers a unique combination of synthetic waxes and innovative jelly base that has a creamy and soft, silky texture for optimum glide and easy application. They look and feel smooth and creamy with a luminous shine finish.

These lipsticks come in a distinguish dark-green packaging decorated with a metallic gold logo and is formulated with a synergy of amino acid derivative, wild mango butter, water lily and orchid flower extracts. They're paraben free, D5 free, talc free and are non-fragranced for those who are sensitive to scented products. These firming and volumising lipsticks are highly saturated with pigments and yield a fairly sheer colour pay off, though they are easily buildable to a semi-opaque coverage; one full layer gives the lips a very lovely, natural tint of colour!

Left: 105 Desert Rose Hues / Right: 112 Vibrant Coral

Forgive my atrocious swatches. Obviously, I'm not very skilled with these kinds of shots...

The quality of these Unleashed Lipsticks are impeccable. They glide onto the lips and look creamy and silky with a nice glossy lustre. They do not bleed, streak, accentuate fine lines or dry flakes and leave the lips feeling quite hydrated and softened. I especially love that these colours are lightweight, plush and comfortable to wear; much like a creamy-gel balm without any stickiness, tack or thickness. Unfortunately, these lip colours are not long lasting (though they never claimed to be) so I did have to reapply every 3 hours and/or after meals, but other than that I am very pleased with the formula.

The Gilded Cage Unleashed lipsticks are available online and retail at $40, so it's definitely more of a mid-range to high-end product and none of the products in the Gilded Cage cosmetics range are tested on animals!

What are your thoughts on these new lippies? Hit or miss? Yay or nay?
