NEW NARS All day luminous weightless foundation

I saw this foundation circulating the web about a month before it's official release and I knew it would become the next best thing in my collection. NARS almost never faults with their products, which is what makes them a cult favourite.

From the NARS website, it is described as a ultra-lightweight, highly pigmented and long-wearing foundation. Delivering flawless and full, yet natural looking coverage for up to 16 hours while instantly neutralising redness and dullness with just "one drop".

On the box, the all day luminous weightless foundation pretty much describes it further as an oil-free foundation with a uniquely fluid silky feel that's ideal for all skin types and tones. It absorbs quickly and blends easily for all-day, natural luminosity. It is suggested that the product is warmed up in the palm of a hand and blended with fingers starting from the centre of the face moving outward.

I'm going to start with the packaging which is pretty weighty but so luxurious and sleek. Unlike the sheer glow, the all day luminous weightless foundation comes with a pump and a lid that fits right on top! The packaging is bulky but classy in a tall bottle containing a standard 30ml (1 Fl. Oz) worth of product.

There are 20 different shades in this range, and if you already have or tried the Nars sheer matte or sheer glow foundation, the shade and the names are the same but if you're not familiar with the shades and you want to compare and match shades, visit findation.com.

For reference, I am in the shade Gobi (light with yellow undertones) and I have dry to normal skin at the moment with a couple of uneven texture and there is just no way I would apply this foundation on directly without a primer because it will catch to the dry patches, flake away and it'll be a nightmare to blend. Before anything, I moisturise and apply the Laura Mercier foundation primer, which is my holy grail primer. Now with this product, it is recommended that you use your fingers, which may work for some but unfortunately it was a disaster for me, so if you're the same, I would suggest maybe a flat foundation brush or maybe a kabuki brush will work.

Before dispensing the product you will need to shake the bottle well before each use. For my entire face, I find that one pump is just enough. I apply it sparingly and blend out for a flawless, natural finish and build another layer where ever I need to (I actually don't need another layer but you can apply another layer if you choose to). If you apply too much product it will look heavy and cakey once it sets and with this formula, you will have to work quickly to blend it out because it does set pretty fast (almost instantly). The finish is not quite dewy (satin/demi-matte), but the skin has a noticeable luminous glow. The texture of it feels very soft and satin-smooth, not at all tacky or greasy and it is truly pigmented and provides the fullest and natural looking coverage despite it being very thin and watery in consistency. The product isn't labelled with SPF so I'm guessing it has none which would make this flash-photography friendly.

This product really is "all-day" long-wearing foundation! I wore the All day luminous weightless foundation for a total of 12 hours without touching up and has lasted really well on me. It did not oxidise and it did not transfer onto my clothes or become patchy and dry. I don't have any significantly large pores or oily skin, but if you do, I suggest you touch up with a setting powder or blotting sheets to get rid of shine or excess oils. I also have to mention just how lightweight this foundation is! So weightless that it feels like nothing, so light and breathable even though it's full-coverage!

    1. Remember to use it over a hydrating primer or moisturiser, otherwise it will cling to patches and if you have dry skin it's best not to buff it into the skin but apply it using downward strokes for a smooth finish! Hope it works out for you! Keep me updated and let me know how you went with it
