NARS Sheer Glow foundation Review

Recently, I've been posting my 'make up of the day' on instagram featuring the NARS Sheer Glow foundation and I've had a few questions about it so I'll answer them again here.

The product description on the NARS website claims it to be:

"A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin's brightness and texture."

Now, before I start please note that I have very dry and sensitive skin. I've been using it for at least 3 weeks now and so far it's been pretty good to me. Even though it's light on the skin, I find it to be more of a medium coverage foundation that can build to full coverage, so not really as sheer as the name suggests. I wouldn't recommend this for people who have near perfect or flawless skin since it can look a little too "made up" so, I would suggest a tinted moisturiser or BB or CC cream instead (side note: I will have another post up on my favourite BB and CC creams for dry skin). It has a satin/semi-matte finish, even though people may believe that it's dewy, and has a subtle natural glow (probably lacks a lot of "glow" because my skin is so dry). Also, even though I say that it's semi-matte or semi-satin I would not recommend it to people with oily skin, it wouldn't last long and will probably separate and melt right off the face, with that being said, you're best off choosing from the NARS Sheer Matte range or Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. It does even out skin tone and conceal blemishes so this is a winner if you have spots/pimples or freckles that need a bit more coverage. It is a liquid foundation thats not too thick and not too runny so there's plenty of time to blend and it sets just under 5 minutes. Sheer Glow is scentless and SPF-free so it photographs beautifully. I find it lasts 6-8 hours on my skin, I didn't really expect it to be a long-wearing foundation anyway since it doesn't really claim to be. As for the skincare benefits, I don't really feel that my skin has gotten any better and it doesn't feel hydrating, but the good thing is it doesn't feel too thick or accentuate or catch to my dry patches so I'm impressed. My skin also feel instantly softer and smoother, however once it starts to rub and wear off at the end of the day, I find it does look and feel a little clumpy and powdery (again, I have really dry skin) which is probably my fault since I didn't use a moisturiser or primer underneath or a setting spray on top.

Overall this foundation really worked well for me and is definitely worth the money, even though I did accidentally get Deauville when really I'm in the shade Gobi. The Sheer Glow contains 1 fl oz. / 30ml and retails for $45 USD and is now $59 AUD in Australian Mecca stores.

What are your opinions on this? Holy grail or holy fail?

Roses and Gold: Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow palette review and swatches

I know, I'm a little late hopping on the Urban Decay Naked 3 bandwagon but I've had issues committing to it until a sudden surge of impulse made me do it. This is a little hard to get in Australia, you either had to get someone to import it from the states for you, use a mail forwarding service or get it off beautybay for an arm and a leg.

I'm going to be straight forward with you guys, this palette is a game changer! There are a lot of neutral palettes on the market and while a lot of them are great or maybe even better, there are none quite like the naked 3 which offers 12 shades of rose-hued neutrals. I am a person who can do without eyeshadow but this palette changes everything! It is incredibly pigmented and blendable - It blends effortlessly and doesn't turn muddy. You can create a neutral minimal look to a romantic/dramatic smokey eye and it's great on all skin tones! WIN

Strange: Described as a pale pink shade with a matte satin finish that is great for highlighting the brow bone or inner tear duct can also be used as a base colour.
Dust: This is a pale metallic pink with micro glitters and shimmer. I find that this has the worse fall out and you can definitely feel the grittiness of the glitters. It can be used wet or better with a primer but it's still a little disappointing.
Burnout: Peach coloured pink with a satin finish.
Limit: Dusty rose colour with a matte finish. A beautiful transition or base colour
Buzz: Buzz is one of my favourite shades! It's a gorgeous shimmery-metallic rose pink with microglitters.
Trick: A light shimmery copper shade with pink undertones.

Nooner: Deep pinky/mauve matte shade. This is a beautiful crease and base colour. This would be the first shade to hit pan I can guarantee it.
Liar: Metallic mauve. This is a stunning metallic finish much like the new NARS dual intensity shadows.
Factory: Satin brown with subtle pink tones.
Mugshot: Shimmery metallic taupe shade.
Darkside: Deep taupe/mauve colour with a satin finish. This one is a beautiful shade to use for dramatic smokey looks I normally use this in my outter-v or to smoke out my liner.
Blackheart: The most pigmented black with red micro sparkles. This one is gorgeous, girls. My heart literally stopped when I dipped my finger in the pan for a swatch.

What are your favourite shades? Leave a comment or share the looks you created with this palette on instagram using the hashtag #hauteflashes I would love to see them!
